Flyer's Recap!

Hello to all of my fellow hockey fans (or soon to be). Well, the season is definitely getting good. Since last week I didn't talk to much about how the Flyer's are currently doing, I will catch you up. Last night the Flyer's played against the Florida Panthers. It was Mike Knuble who scored a shorthanded goal with 3.2 seoconds remaining in regulation. This is their ninth home game win in a row, with a win of 5-4. The Flyer's acquired Mike Knuble just this year, and he has proven to be a great asset to this team. Robert Esche put on a pretty good perofrmance, however it was definitely a close one. It was Michal Handzus who assisted Knuble with the winning goal. Mike Knuble commented on his goal:

"I kind of scooped it up, and it was one of those where you just pound it on goal. I think it popped up a little bit as I was releasing it and it kind of took off on me and went right up in the [corner]. It was one of the timeliest goals of my NHL career.”

As of right now, Simon Gagne is the league-leading scorer with his 17th goal of the season last night. Simon has always been an asset to this team, even when he was only a rookie a few years ago. As young as he is, he has an excellent career awaiting him in the future.

So what is next up for the Flyer's? Tomorrow, November 14th, the Flyer's will be playing against the Florida Panthers, another rival. Hopefully, the Flyer's will continue their winning streak as they are one of the best hockey teams currently in the league. Until next time, "Let's go Flyers!"

Comments:
It seems like every week you talk about the success of the Flyers, so it definetly seems like the Flyers have a great chance this year to go all the way. Its awesome that we have the league's leading schorer on our team, definetly something to be proud of. Do you think that we need to acquire anybody else this season through trades? Because I didn't know if there were any trouble positions in our lineup.

In every posting you talk about rivals that the Flyers have, who do you think their greatest rival is? From an outsiders perspective I would probably say the Pittsburgh Penguins because of the Philly-Pitt rivalry. Am I right? I feel a team from Florida might be a rival because they are good but it doesn't seem to have the same intensity as a rivalry like the Eagles vs. the Cowboys. On a side note, I am crushed that the Eagles gave away that game on Monday night. I think in your next post you need to take about the curse of the Eagles and how they can never pull it together to win a Superbowl. Until next time...

Yesterday was not a good day for Philly sports teams. The Eagles and Flyers both lost games to rivals. It was a sad night for Philadelphia. Even though the Flyers lost last night, they still have an amazing season ahead of them. Just to respond to the other commment. All of the lines that we have this season are working out really well. I don't forsee the need to add anyone new to the line-up, unless Primeau is not able to recover from his concussion. If he ends up having to retire from this injury then we may have to rework lines and make some trades to get another person who will play up to his caliber. I personally am the optimist and think that he will be fine and back in no time.

Hey Heather,

Who knew Gagne was going to have such a good season that he has had already? It seems like whenever he touches the puck and shoots it, the puck goes in the net. I really think that Forsberg and Gagne have played well with one another and they skills compliment each other really well. Gagne has turned into an All-Star, and gets better year after year. The only other player scoring goals the way Gagne is scoring them is Jagr. And Jagr has been in the league forever. So for Gagne to be playing so well says a lot about his style of play. And how amazing was Knuble’s goal?? Great timing is right. I like the quote you provided that Knuble said to sum up his reaction. Knuble is a great pick-up and I like how Hitchcock has been giving him more and more ice time as the season goes on.
